What we do.

Create Space.

In addition to creating safe spaces for Black people to begin or extend their yoga practice, we also foster opportunities for participants to engage with one another off the mat. By doing so, our participants have been able to network, develop meaningful relationships, share resources, and build community.

Build Community.

At the core of all that we do is our love and commitment to our community. We evoke the spirit of the ancient African philosophy of Ubuntu. The notion that “I am because you are, you are because I am.” reminds us that it is our collective responsibility to ensure that all the people are well.

Practice Yoga.

Utilizing a culturally tailored approach, we offer donation-based yoga classes that centers the experiences and identities of Black people in St. Louis. Instructors guide participants through yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and other culturally relevant self-care strategies to help heal the mind, body, and spirit.

At The Collective STL, we strive to eliminate barriers to accessing mental and physical well-being practices. We’ve intentionally developed practices that are welcoming to individuals regardless of prior experience or ability to pay.
